Visit of participants of the ‘2nd School of Transitional Justice in BIH’
Participants of the ‘2nd School of Transitional Justice in BIH’ visited the Information Centre on the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia (ICTY) Sarajevo, on Tuesday, February 22, 2022. The Association ‘Pravnik’ from Sarajevo – with the support of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in BIH, the Regional War Crimes Project (RWC) supported by the UK Government – organized the ‘2nd School of Transitional Justice in BIH’ targeting the topic ‘The role of transitional justice in the restoration of human rights and the rule of law in post-conflict societies’ during the period 18-24 February 2022.
Expert advisor at the Information Centre on the ICTY Ismena Causevic presented the work of the Centre, its establishment, mandate, and legacy. Causevic also introduced students to the ICTY database and electronic archive and informed participants that the Centre will be at their disposal during their future academic education and research in the field of war crimes.
Participants of the school expressed their interest in the work of the Centre and asked questions in this direction. Later, students visited the library within the Centre for which the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS)- the Rule of Law Programme for Southeast Europe, Foundation from Bucharest provided financial support. On this occasion, participants received books as a gift from the library fund. During the visit, students of the ‘2nd School of Transitional Justice in BIH’ were also introduced to the exhibition component of the Centre: ‘Showcasing the work and contribution of the Hague tribunal through the ICTY verdicts’. The students ended their visit with a tour of the City Hall building as well and they also had a chance to see permanent exhibitions about the history of the city and the City Hall.
