Through Professional Practice and Education, Students of the Faculty of Law of the University of Travnik Visited the ICTY Information Center in Sarajevo
Group of students of the Faculty of Law of the University of Travnik successfully implemented the project entitled ‘Workshop for the Improvement of Study Quality through the Analysis of ICTY Adjudicated Facts in Final Judgments within the Field of International Criminal Law.
The students were welcomed at Sarajevo City Hall by the Deputy Mayor of Sarajevo, Predrag Puharić.
“City Hall is not only a symbol of Sarajevo, but also a place that preserves important testimonies on history, justice, and the struggle for truth. It is very important to us that young legal professionals, through projects such as these, had the opportunity to learn about the work of the Hague Tribunal, international criminal law, and the importance of justice for society in general,” Puharić stated.
In the premises of the ICTY Information Centre in Sarajevo the students were presented with legally established facts according to which war crimes were sentenced for serious violations of international humanitarian law committed in the territory of the former Yugoslavia as well as to be presented with the guidance a practical workshop on using the Mechanism’s Unified Court Records to research cases and sources.
PhD Almir Pustahija emphasized the importance of such workshops and lectures, highlighting that through practical examples students were able to study legal processes, provided by the practical examples of judicially established facts, and develop a professional and ethical approach to their future work in the legal profession.
The project was implemented on behalf of the Faculty by PhD Prof. Pustahija, who on that occasion presented certificates of appreciation to Predrag Puharić, Deputy mayor and Ismena Čaušević, expert assistance in Information centre on ICTY Sarajevo for their long-standing professional support and contribution to the implementation of educational activities.
In this way, it was emphasized, students are provided with the opportunity to connect theoretical knowledge with concrete examples from practice, while developing professionalism, responsibility, and an ethical approach to their future work.
Together with Professor Pustahija, the students expressed their gratitude to the Deputy Mayor for the warm reception, expressing confidence on continuing successful cooperation between the Faculty and the City Administration on implementing educational projects.
