Deputy Mayor Džehverović Hosts International Lawyers and Hague Experts

The Deputy Mayor of Sarajevo, Mirela Džehverović, today welcomed international lawyers and experts specializing in international criminal and humanitarian law at the City Hall.

Deputy Mayor Džehverović emphasized the importance of international justice and cooperation, highlighting that Sarajevo is a city that fosters a culture of remembrance and dialogue.

“Today’s meeting in Sarajevo testifies to the universal importance of truth, justice, and continuous learning from the past. Sarajevo is a city that believes in plurality and openness, and the ICTY Information Centre holds a special place in preserving historical truth and understanding the significance of international courts.”

During their stay in Sarajevo, the delegation visited the ICTY Information Centre and the Sarajevo City Hall, where they had the opportunity to learn about the permanent exhibition of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia as well as the history and culture of the capital.

The delegation members come from multiple countries – Italy, France, Sweden, Greece, Romania, the United States, Canada, Portugal, Bulgaria, Switzerland, and Slovakia. They are experienced lawyers who have worked in various international justice institutions, including the International Criminal Court, the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, the Special Tribunal for Lebanon, and Extraordinary Chambers in the courts of Cambodia, as well as in domestic prosecutors’ offices, ministries, and international organizations such as the United Nations, the Council of Europe, and the International Committee of the Red Cross.
