Students visited Information centre on ICTY Sarajevo
“On Friday, April 10, 2026, third-year students, as part of the course Professional Practice 6 – Security Studies, conducted an educational visit to the Sarajevo Information Centre of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) located in the City Hall (Vijećnica). They were accompanied by their Assistant Professor Kenan Hodžić, Dr. Sc.
The students were introduced to the history, work, and legacy of the Hague Tribunal—an institution that laid the foundations of modern international criminal justice and played a pivotal role in establishing historical facts regarding the gravest crimes committed in the former Yugoslavia. During the visit, students toured the authentic Courtroom No. 2 and the permanent exhibition, which features photographs, excerpts of testimonies, and items used as evidence in numerous trials.
The Centre’s representative, Ismena Čaušević, presented the ICTY’s legacy, its impact on international justice, current efforts in combating genocide denial, and the processes of transitional justice. This visit, conducted annually as a regular activity of Professional Practice 6, continues to prove its educational value by providing students with a direct encounter with the principles of international criminal liability and human rights protection mechanisms, which remain as lasting importance for post-conflict societies.
